This petition is to call on Sony to re-evaluate it's position to allow, and support Bethesda's hard efforts to make mods available to the Playstation audience. In a blog post, Bethesda said, "After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition."
This arrogant stance taken by Sony has disappointed both a large developer, and a large player base.
But instead Sony crushed the entire idea and along with it months of patience, and customer loyalty. As a leader in gaming, we would expect Sony to be supportive of such endeavors that will bring fresh, new content and creativity to it's platform in a form we haven't seen before. We will provide an update if and when this situation changes." As explained by Bethesda, the reason PS4 mods were delayed (and now very possibly indefinitely cancelled) was due to Sony's unexplained lack of support, and subsequent denial of the concept. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. 3 months later, after months of nearly no word on the status of PS4 mods after the initial delay, Bethesda released this statement today (September 9th, 2016) explaining the situation with PS4 mods: "After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition. Bethesda stated they were working with Sony to get it sorted it.
Just before PS4 mod support was due to be released for Fallout 4, it was inexplicitly delayed due to unexplained issues. In June 2016, Bethesda announced mod support would be coming on PS4 for Fallout 4, and the yet to be released Skyrim: Special Edition.
